COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is an online course that aims to enable study circle facilitators to facilitate modified study circle sessions on how to conduct webinars.

WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR?

The course is intended for participants who are interested in becoming study circle facilitators and for those who want to help others to conduct webinars. 

PRE-REQUISITES: WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED CRITERIA FOR ATTENDING THIS COURSE?

  • Participants need to know how to operate a smartphone, tablet or computer.
  • Participants should be able to connect to and communicate using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
  • Participants should be able to open applications such as an internet browser, Whatsapp, PDF reader, Google Docs, Microsoft Word or similar applications and different websites, such as Youtube.com. 

COURSE DURATION, NUMBER OF SESSIONS AND MODE OF DELIVERY

Online instruction will be done through self-learning sessions on OLA and online support from the course facilitator. A Whatsapp group will be made available to offer support and easier means of communication to the participants. Participants will be required to conduct study circle sessions with their groups throughout the course.  

Resources for the course will be found on the OLA course.

  • Explore the use of webinars as a tool to educate and spread information
  • Share your experiences in participating in and/or organizing a webinar
  • Practice the steps in planning and executing a webinar
  • Facilitate study circle sessions relating to this topic

SESSION OVERVIEW

Session 1: Facilitator orientation and introduction to study circles

ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: In this session, participants will learn about the fundamentals of the study circle methodology and the Industry 4.0.
DURATION (minutes): 30 minutes for learning and activities on OLA

Session 2: What is a webinar

ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy and with the study circle group
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: In this session, participants will discuss what a webinar is and what their experiences are in participating and/or conducting one. After this session, participants are encouraged to run their 1st study circle meeting covering topics for Sessions 1 and 2.
DURATION (minutes): 1 hour for learning and activities on OLA, 1 hour 30 minutes for running study circle meeting

Session 3: Planning a webinar

ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy and with the study circle group
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: In this session, participants will  learn how to plan for a webinar and the online applications available for their use. After this session, participants are encouraged to run their 2nd study circle meeting covering topics for Session 3.
DURATION (minutes): 1 hour for learning and activities on OLA, 1 hour 30 minutes for running study circle meeting

Session 4: Implementing a webinar

ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: In this session, participants will learn how to implement their planned webinar. After this session, participants are encouraged to run their 3rd study circle meeting covering topics for Session 4.
DURATION (minutes): 1 hour for learning and activities on OLA, 1 hour 30 minutes for running study circle meeting  

Session 5: Final practical assignment

ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy and with the study circle group
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: For the final practical assignment, participants are expected to conduct a series of webinars with their study circle members.

Your study circle members will take turns doing and taking on the following roles:

  • Presenting a topic in the webinar (this person will be the leader of the team for that webinar)
  • Setting up the webinar on the platform and moderating the webinar
  • Hosting or facilitating the webinar

Participating in the webinar

DURATION (minutes): 4 hours for practicals in study circle meetings
