COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an online course that aims to enable study circle facilitators to facilitate modified study circle sessions on how to conduct online meetings.
WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR?
The course is intended for participants who are interested in becoming study circle facilitators and for those who want to help others to conduct online meetings.
PRE-REQUISITES: WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED CRITERIA FOR ATTENDING THIS COURSE?
- Participants need to know how to operate a smartphone, tablet or computer.
- Participants should be able to connect to and communicate using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
- Participants should be able to open applications such as an internet browser, Whatsapp, PDF reader, Google Docs, Microsoft Word or similar applications and different websites, such as Youtube.com.
COURSE DURATION, NUMBER OF SESSIONS AND MODE OF DELIVERY
Online instruction will be done through self-learning sessions on OLA and online support from the course facilitator. A Whatsapp group will be made available to offer support and easier means of communication to the participants. Participants will be required to conduct study circle sessions with their groups throughout the course.

SESSION OVERVIEW
Session 1: Facilitator orientation and introduction to study circles
Session 2: Face-to-Face Meetings vs. Online Meetings
Session 3: Different platforms to use for online meetings
Session 4: Drafting meeting agendas
ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: In this session, participants will learn what a meeting agenda is and how to create one.
DURATION (minutes):1 hour for learning and activities on OLA
Session 5: Documenting a meeting
ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy and with the study circle group
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: In this session, participants will learn the importance of documenting a meeting and how to create a meeting documentation. After this session, participants are encouraged to run their 3rd study circle meeting covering topics for Session 4 and 5.
DURATION (minutes): 1 hour for learning and activities on OLA, 1 hour 30 minutes for running study circle meeting
Session 6: Final practical assignment
ONLINE LEARNING MODE: Self-paced activities on the IFWEA Online Labour Academy and with the study circle group
DESCRIPTION AND TOPICS: For the final practical assignment, participants are expected to conduct a series of online meetings with their study circle members.
Your study circle members will take turns doing and taking on the following roles:
- Drafting an agenda and facilitating the online meeting
- Setting up the online meeting and managing the online meeting
- Documenting the meeting.
